nike af 1 re-imagined

recently i was about to throw away my pair of nike af 1´s and realised i could remake them into something new, an art piece of sorts even if i don’t actually end up wearing them. i used pink and red spray paint, a marker, sleeves from a light blue mesh blazer and yarn from a sweater i de-sleeved (if that’s even a word) and pearls from earrings i don’t use anymore. on the swooshes i wrote things that suck about this year, i thought it would be sentimental to what this year has felt like; extra as hell on the outside but meaningful and personally for me in a lot of ways sad and depressive on the inside, since the swoosh is kind of the statement/heart sign of Nike as a brand i decided to write on them to make that the personal reflection.

i decided to gift them to my friend atalie for her 21st birthday, i honestly don’t think they’re wearable anymore with the wear i had previously put into them. very happy with the outcome.
