i’m made out of plastic out here

lyrics from sampha’s song stream into my head thinking about this project. so i’m applying to a school here in finland and for their entrance they require a prior assignment to be made, so they can sift through the applicants that are talented and serious with getting in. i don’t know if im talented but i’m lowkey serious. i would like to get in. so. the concept was to create a campaign in Finnish against littering. so i put the hat i wear while i meditate on ideas and come up with a pretty decent idea, atleast my parents and boss think so. i did a lot of research and came up with 450 as the logo, because it takes about 450 years for plastic to decompose in its natural state. that becomes more horrifying when i realise 91% of the world’s plastic is not being recycled and reused, because we do not have the skills or resources to do so.

my thought process was

1. need a model

2. let me use my fashion sense in this pls

3. has to be edgy

4. has to be alarming

5. film photography (obvi)

6. plastic outfit, i have to make it, get huge amount of plastic for it, buy bag of oranges - use the bag as head piece

7. spray paint 450 on it

8. take photos in different locations trash can be found in, use many elements

recently in finland it is becoming mandatory to even separate plastic items from normal trash, which recycling is already not a thing in a lot of households across the globe, here in Finland we take it very seriously, and i am trying to do better at it as well. it was hard coming back from australia, to be so religious with this, because there i found most people had only two bins, normal waste and recycling, and that was it.
